A Recycled Art Workshop That Inspired International Students

A creative and sustainable journey with ECO Solutions in Ho Chi Minh City

Not every lesson comes from textbooks.
Some of the most meaningful ones only reach the heart when we get to do it ourselves – see it up close – and truly feel it.

That’s the spirit ECO Solutions brought to a sustainability-focused educational workshop for students, hosted in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of 162 students from Temasek Polytechnic (Singapore).
It was a journey where creativity, art, and sustainability came together to create a truly memorable learning experience.

What Can Young People Really Change? And Why Does Recycling Matter?

The program began with a thought-provoking sharing session led by two inspiring speakers:
Ms. Lương Huyền – CEO & Founder of ECO Solutions, and Ms. Kelly Nguyễn – Founder of Dear Our Community (DOC), a platform dedicated to inspiring meaningful community action among young people.

Instead of starting with dry facts or theories, they began with simple, relatable questions:

  • What can young people do to help change the current environmental situation?
  • How much waste are we generating each day without even realizing it?
  • And if we start with something as small as recycling or reusing can it really make a difference?

The session was warm, open, and reflective not instructional or preachy.
Rather than feeling like they were being told what to do, students were gently guided to look inward, connect with the world around them, and realize that even small personal actions can lead to meaningful change.

When Trees Are Painted with Love for the Earth

Right after the sharing, students took part in a drawing activity focused on environmental protection and trees — a creative way to express their green perspectives.

This was not just a drawing session. It was a recycled art workshop designed to inspire students, where every emotion and idea had a place on the canvas.

No advanced skills were needed. No expensive materials required.
Just a piece of paper, some colors, heartfelt inspiration and the students created simple but touching visuals that reflected their love for nature.

Creativity Doesn’t Need Much — It Just Needs to Begin

Following the art activity, students moved into a hands-on workshop:
Repurposing old sketch paper, notes, and scrap into handmade items like seed cards, framed art, and small eco models.

This hands-on component was a highlight of the recycled art workshop for schools both educational and accessible, making it perfect for extracurricular programs.

The atmosphere was lively yet focused. Some were carefully cutting and crafting, others laughed over their quirky “first creations.”
But the most important takeaway was this: everyone felt empowered to create something meaningful starting from the simplest things.

A Workshop with More Value Than You’d Expect

More than just learning about recycling, this workshop offered students a chance to experience ESG in action — connecting environment, community, and personal responsibility.

Through listening, drawing, crafting, and sharing, students gradually came to realize:
Protecting the environment isn’t some distant concept.
It’s a journey — and they, too, can be a part of it, starting today.
